one of which is Debt of Gratitude or in tagalog UTANG NA LOOB.
I guess that nothing is more painful that some tells you this...
"WALA KANG UTANG NA LOOB!"
this is not your ordinary debt like material debt or more common, monetary debt. take note, in tagalog, it has the word LOOB. in filipino psychology, it is the reflection on how we deal with other people. And, it is the only debt that doesn't need to be paid off.
We have a big Debt of Gratitude to our parents, because without them, we are not existing in this planet. and most of all,
We have a humongous debt of gratitude to our God, because without him, we are not alive and kicking.
but sometimes, this Debt of gratitude has somehow a negative effect on our society. like this:
oh no, here we go again, so for the sake of our common good, enough of this ok? UTANG NA LOOB.
The second one is what we called Resignation, or in lay man's term "Bahala na." yep, you know when we don't know what we're going to do or you are just lazy to do it, you'll just say "Bahala na." On the positive side, it may show that we are putting the fate in god's hands. or we are just free-spirited people and we are putting our life in fate's hands.
It seems to be contrasting to the third and final value that we possess. and that is Hardwork. Being a hardworking person or being "masipag" is widely recognize internationally. That's why every where in the world there are OFW's.
now you might ask, why contrasting? I guess it would be self-explanatory...
Now my fellow youngsters, I guess that one or two of these values are in you, otherwise, aside from you are not speaking are mother language, what in the world are you doing here in our beloved country?
Gratitude is an important value to be cherished. Without gratitude we would not be better persons because we would not be able to appreciate anything. Sometimes people take it to the extreme, though. ;)
