is like the state of the nation address last nine years ago when the great four-feeter (you should who am i talking about.) is speaking at the center of the camara de representantes: He is giving some fact and figures that I don't know if its true or not. But one thing is for sure, the Batasang Pambansa is surely jam-packed not only from the inside but also from the outside.
SONA is like a red-carpet premiere of a famous movie or a Grammy awards night. Imagine, these congressmen spent millions and millions of peso just to have a barong tagalog which is designed not by your ordinary Sastre, but by Rajo Laurel. The question is, from where do they get that kind of money? from their pockets or from OUR pockets?
SONA is like a grand reunion of all the activist here in the Philippines. rallying here, rallying there, rallying everywhere. I guess the Most Valuable Player of these group of angry anti-Noynoy people would be The Hacienda Luisita farmers. All they need is their land to be returned but for no reason or unknown reason rather, The president would not allow.
Enough with the glits and glamours and greases and dirt of the people. Let's focus on the SONA per se.
Fortunately, I obtain myself a copy of his speech and here's the link
http://www.coolbuster.net/2011/07/president-aquino-2011-state-of-nation.html
It's long enough for you to read that the next time you open your eyes, its already nighttime. now in the first place, why do I need to obtain this copy.
well, very simple.
I DIDN'T WATCH HIS SPEECH.
But according to an economist and also one of my idols, Winnie Monsod, and not verbatim "there is something that is missing on his speech." and somehow, I am one of the believers of what she said. Imagine.
He never acknowledge the real situation of our country. He didn't even mention some challenges that came during his administration: the hostage crisis in Quirino Grandstand, the... argh, it so many, i can't put it in my blog. Oh, I forgot how will the palace got to deal the silence of Krissy.
Also, in his speech, there are some words that he used for the Nth time, such as Wang-wang. Yes, the tyranny of those traffic violators using wang-wang is over ( I was amaze by using the street as a great metaphor for our society: On the left side you will see beggar sleeping under the over pass near the commonwealth market, On the right side you will see a rich kid driving fast with his Chevrolet Cruze. on the first lane there's a jeepney driver drivng smoothly for a living. On the other lane comes a Rich Kid racing with other cars and uses his unauthorized "wang-wang" just for him to reach to his destination fast. Die you rich kid.) but boy, you see there are no more "wang-wangs" and if ever, I will personally go down and say to that guy (in tagalog) "boss, bawal na po ang wang-wang ah?" I swear I will do it. come on PNoy, Enough of the wang-wang. It's over. It's okay if you do your Cranium Gloria Bashing. It just puts a big grin to my face.
But come to think of it.
What's SONA got to do with us Filipinos? How can you possibly deliver this speech full of facts and figures to a person who worries about what to eat today and tomorrow? How can a guy like the president of the Philippines be able to explain this to a beggar who sleeps under the overpass in lay man's term?
Well. I guess that it is one of our Filipino Values: and that is being "usisero". You know, we can't start another conversation without having a topic from outside source. but it's another blog for me.
P.S.
I bet to you my fellow citizens next year, It's still the same scenario that we will be seeing, Extravagant clothes of your Congressmen, Rally of these angry anti-noynoy people, etc.
the only difference?
Noynoy will be proud to announce that (in tagalog)
"AKO PO'Y NATUTUWANG IBALITA SA INYO NA KAMI NI SHALANI'Y NAGKABALIKAN NA AT MAGPAPAKASAL NA SA LALONG MADALING PANAHON." (standing ovation.)
PPS.
Noynoy still endures his cough. promise.
